Position Summary:

The System Security Engineer (SSE) will provide technical direction and support for the development, engineering, interfacing, integration, and testing of specific components of complex hardware/software systems to include requirements elicitation, analysis and functional allocation, conducting systems requirements reviews, developing concepts of operation and interface standards, developing system architectures, and performing technical/non-technical assessment as well as end-to-end flow analysis. Review system engineering documentation to ensure that processes and specifications meet system needs and are accurate, comprehensive, and complete.

The Ideal candidate will establish and follow a formal procedure for coordinating system integration activities among multiple teams, ensuring complete coverage of all interfaces.

Manage and ensure the technical integrity of the system baseline over time, continually updating it as various changes are imposed on the system during the lifecycle from development through deployment and operations & maintenance. The SSE ensures effective, periodic review and control of the evolving configuration of a system, both hardware and software components and associated documentation, during the life of the system.

The SSE will conduct end-to-end system analyses to optimize system security. The SSE will analyze and determine causes (software and/or hardware) of reported problems and trouble tickets on complex hardware/software processing systems. The SSE will oversee system patching and regression testing efforts. Strong Redhat and CENTos Linux knowledge (or Unix) and the ability to troubleshoot server-based processing system architectures is required as is strong familiarity with MySQL database (or other relational databases), Linux/Unix scripting, Linux/Unix system administration, software configuration management. Experience in developing software drivers (preferably PARKRANGER Compatible) which query Linux-based processing servers to determine parameters used for monitoring status and health of multiple processing systems is also sought. Experience with XACTA and NESSUS a plus.

 

Requirements:

  • Fourteen (14) years’ experience as a Systems Security Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required. Five (5) years of additional Systems Engineer experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Red Hat Certification Engineer or CompTIA Linux+ certification is a requirement. The Government will allow a period of six (6) months after acceptance on contract to obtain certification.
  • Must possess an active TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph.
